Mila graduated from Penza State University of Architecture and Construction. At the heart of her practice are the study of natural form, a respectful relation to material and the pursuit of a new, subtle aesthetic.

Working with linen canvases, she makes objects whose visual reading is largely determined by how tactile they are.

The compositions are extremely spare: the elements are reduced to a minimum, which allows attention to fall on the sculptural quality of the form, the harmony with which materials meet, and the natural beauty of the substance itself. That outward simplicity stands against a complex, many-layered making.

Using organic materials — from spruce cones to seaweed — Mila builds expressive, almost meditative surfaces. Her Baltic series is an ode to minimalism and a declaration of love for the nature of the Baltic and for the culture and traditions of that region.
