About the work

The bowl carries a rich body of meaning. In many cultures it stands as a metaphor for the human being, and artists turning to the subject have used the image of a bowl to render a person. In this series the bowl is stripped of its direct utility, which only sharpens its meaning. The objects are made in a range of textile techniques and form, longitudinally, a series of self-portraits from different periods of the artist's life. The series is intended to grow with further works.
